Nurse is just another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate everything and soft enough to understand everyone. Before starting my research on nursing I knew many things about it one being, a lot of communication with doctors and patients. Nurses play a significant role and many people’s lives from saving them, helping them heal, and getting patients and their families, through hard times. For example a patient may be dying of cancer and the family will need some guidance on what to do, and what treatments are possible in the meantime. I discovered that nurses must coordinate care, in collaboration with a wide variety of health care professionals. In doing so there are many procedures that they must follow. Nurses perform exams, provide health promotion, and administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions (MS Choices). Many people have reported that nurses have to stand, walk, and run one third of the time. They are also exposed to diseases and infections more than once a month through work such as patient care, laboratory work, and sanitation control. I have learned that there are proper ways to handle certain situation like washing hands to keep yourself and everyone around protected there are many different fields one could venture off into like neonatal nurse, emergency room nurse, prenatal nurse, and a critical care unit nurse and each once play a huge role in any medical facility. Next, I researched the employment outlook for a nurse. As a nurse there are many requirements depending on the occupation. A registered nurse must be an active listener, good communication skills, and learning strategies. Different levels of education are also needed. A nurse needs to have good writing skills, mathematics and science (MS Choices). Nurses are always needed in hospitals, clinics, and even in a dentist office.
