The type of organizational structure I chose for my small private skilled nursing facility is a functional structure. It is a tall centralized structure starting with the CEO, Board of Directors and medical director. It then branches off to the middles managers such as director of nursing, administrator, rehabilitation director, and dietary manager. According to Schroeter et al., (2010) “a functional organization consists of units or departmental groups identified by specialty that report to managers”. A functional organizational will help my staff know the chain of command in each department, and keep business neatly compartmentalized. The list of major roles in our facility will be Medical director, administrator, and Director of nursing, these managers will play a key role in our facility. Our administrator will manage the billing for residents and families while analyzing and planning a budget proposal with medical director. The administrator will also oversee employees, such as maintenance crew and housekeeping. Make sure that our facility and equipment are safe for residents and staff. Execute protocols in accordance with federal and state laws and come up with solutions to faculty problems and compliance breach. The Director of nursing will be responsible in overseeing the work of our nurses such as head RN LPN, and certified nursing assistance. They will also supervise, and maintain standards at the nursing department, hire and train employees with the help of the administrator in our organization.
