Introduction For myself, I have always looked at nursing as more than just a career choice. It is a lifestyle dedicated to helping those in need at their lowest moments in life. Over the last four years, I have learned the necessary skills by expanding my knowledge through hard work and dedication throughout my time as a nursing student to provide care for people in need. I am very fortunate to take what I have learned in nursing school and apply it in real practice during my career as a nurse. One aspect that is incongruent with my own nursing values is governance. Here, governance is used to shape roles and responsibilities for healthcare workers while actively trying to improve healthcare quality and safety in the community (World Health Organization). However, oftentimes the people making these guidelines are individuals that have no healthcare experience. This is why it is essential for nurses and other healthcare providers to become leaders not only during work, but in the community to advocate for what roles nurses should be taking in a healthcare setting, while also striving to improve the quality of healthcare. Workplace conflicts can occur in any workplace setting due to factors such as personal biases or internal stressors. To effectively resolve conflicts in the workplace, I would use open communication with other healthcare workers to help identify the root cause. Once the root cause is discovered, I would work with the other person towards a mutual agreement or compromise since working as a nurse requires teamwork to have the best patient
