There are many aspects of my personal knowing that have contributed to selecting nursing as my profession. To begin, personal knowing is the understanding of oneself and others, attained through critical thinking, the integration of observations, and relating this to what is already understood. For me, this starts during my childhood and continues throughout the rest of my life. The health care field has always been a large part of my family and everyday life. My mom was employed as a CNA for many years and went to the technical college for nursing. With this being said, I have been exposed to the health care since I was very young. Furthermore, my sister took part in my decision of becoming a nurse because while I was in high school, she was in college for pre-med. My sister’s commitment to become a doctor enhanced and furthered my interest in the health care field. All of these experience that were around me as a child, helped me decide that I wanted to be a nurse since as long as I can remember. I also recall my family telling me that my hard work and dedication could take me anywhere I wanted in my future and that is true. My perseverance has allowed me to complete the required prerequisites to apply for the nursing program along with allowing me to receive one of the few spots available in the nursing program. Knowing these aspects about myself will allow me to bring these qualities of my life into my profession as a nurse. I will be able to use my dedication and hard work to provide the best possible care to patients. I will also be able to use my perseverance and critical thinking to solve problems and work quickly when needed. Coming this far I have had many experiences that have helped me decide I want to be a nurse, along with helping me select certain specialties that I may be interested
