Following my graduation from ASU, I hope to attend Physician Assistant school or medical school. As a medical professional, I would like to work with underserved populations and follow in the footsteps of my grandmother. She worked as a nurse at a large corporate hospital, but also volunteered her knowledge and time at a local free clinic. My grandmother found time to give back despite raising four kids and a hectic night shift schedule. I hope to set a similar example, and always manage to give back to my community.

My name is Jendéya Smith. I am majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition as I would like to become a Registered Dietitian. I have obtained a bachelor's degree in Dietetics and Nutrition. Currently, I am completing a master's degree also in Dietetics and Nutrition. Some of my hobbies/interests include self-care, shopping, fashion, watching movies, and spending time with family/friends.
After successfully completing my coordinated dietetics program at Eastern Michigan University I went on to become a registered dietitian at a community hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. During my six years of experience as an inpatient clinical dietitian and covered rehabilitation
I learned throughout the course of this class that there are many components to maintaining a state of well being and that health and wellness aren’t the same thing. I came to understand better the multiple categories of wellness that compose the broad subject in general. We also discussed the various attributes of physical wellness that range from the strength of the heart to the flexibility of our joints. There was a great deal of information that came from this class that will be beneficial to have in the future as it gives multiple tips to keeping oneself in a state of homeostasis. Nutrition and stress management are also huge factors within the balance of things as well.

Do you think restaurants should be required to post nutritional information or should they not have to. Restaurants should be required to post nutritional information. My first reasoning for this is when people have the option to see how much calories are in there food they have a better chance of understanding what they should not eat and what they should eat. My second reasoning is without labeled stuff people would not know how much nutrition or sodium is in there food, and they would not know how much calories to lose if they went to the gym. My final reason is people want to keep up with how much junk food and how much healthy food they ate in one day.
These factors will help me be a successful student and prepare me for my career. In the future, I would like to work in private practice or a local hospital. Alongside practicing medicine, I would like to lead community health initiatives. I have always been interested in education, and continuing to educate throughout my life is a priority for me. One organization that resonated with me is the Allied United for Health, a student organization that aims to bring health education to neighborhoods within Madison, Wisconsin to improve health literacy.

Pollan defines nutritionism using the four main concepts of it, the first being, that the most important thing about food is the nutrients it has. Food is supposed to make you full which in order for it do that, it has the have the nutrients to last you until your next meal or snack.
