YOUR TITLE GOES HERE In this novel “Things Fall Apart”, Nwoye has trouble finding himself, he doesn’t fit in with his culture. We learn that there are things he does not accept, like the fact that they throw twin babies into the evil forest. Nwoye also dislikes the way his father is, and he does not want to be violent , and over powering like him. Nwoye is a person who fears of being like his father, which is one of the things him and his father have in common. Nwoye had just began to find himself, and figuring out his religion. The first reason Nwoye’s sense of identity was challenged was because of him having a very positive connection to being a christian like person. He had always been interested in new religion from the beginning, and although all he had were positive thoughts Nwoye's father wouldn't have allowed that. It also messed up his culture. We see evidence from the text when we see “"...Nwoye passed and repassed the little red-earth and thatch building without summoning enough courage to enter." (Achebe 150) This evidence supports my claim, because it shows how he was always into christianity from the beginning, but with his father , culture, and family, it was challenging. …show more content…

Okonkwo wouldn't have seen him as his child anymore. In chapter seventeen Okonkwo says Nwoye is not worth fighting for, he says “"...Nwoye was not worth fighting for. Why, he cried in his heart, should he, Okonkwo, of all people, be cursed with such a son?" (Achebe 152) This evidence supports my claim because it shows, Okonkwo was always treating Okonkwo different, and now that Nwoye has said what he has said , he has no purpose in chasing him
