Clean Power Plant Announcement
Obama establishes prominent logos, ethos, and pathos when voicing his speech about the Clean Power Plant Announcement. Of course being President of the United States helps him establish his ethos, while his text and content establish his logos and pathos. In the following speech Obama tries to persuade his audience into making our world a better place to live for the sake and health of our current and future generations. Out of all the current issues happening in today’s world Obama states that no challenge poses a greater threat to our future and future generations than a changing climate which is the rhetorical situation for giving this speech.

Companies have already began making their first step. They have begun modernizing their plants and reducing their emissions while creating new jobs in the process. Each state has been given the privilege and flexibility to cut pollution in a timely fashion that is most suitable for them. There would be a reward for states that take action sooner rather than later because, there is such thing as too late. A reward can effect Obama’s pathos because an audience is more likely to make a connection when receiving something in return. Then Obama goes on to talk about what could be the results of this Clean Power Plan. He used an example of when he would go on a run in Los Angeles back in 1979. After five minutes, he couldn’t breath due to the pollution and smog in the air. This was a reoccurring thing. Also, before that the Cuyuga River burning because of pollution, and acid rain threatening to destroy all the great forests of the Northeast were used as examples pertaining to an audience older than him. President Richard Nixon and President George H.W. Bush were confronted with similar issues that they found solutions to. Obama believes there is a solution, we just need to take action together as Americans. He refers to himself and his audience as a unit to demonstrate he is willing to put the same amount of effort as anyone else. It will all begin with the United States taking action with other countries to
