Financially Irresponsible The article “Obama Sinks Family Savings Into Developing Presidential Tabletop Game” is considered to be known as “fake news.” The article does not have an author, and it was published on the website The Onion. In the article, Obama spends most of his family savings on a gameboard that he has created. The name of the game board is called Commander In Chief. The game is based on the American presidency. “The players have to work together to complete a term in the Oval Office, planning fiscally sound federal budgets, negotiating trade deals with foreign countries, and delivering aid to states struck by natural disasters”(par.2). The rhetorical appeal this statement corresponds with is logos because the author is trying to persuade the audience that obama can not secure money very well. The audience of the article are the American citizens. Obama quoted, “I drained our bank account to pay this specially manufacture to make the game components”(par.2). The author’s purpose of quoting this statement was to prove to the audience that his or her purpose was well known supported. The author states that Obama dipped into his daughter’s college savings(par.3). The author is using the rhetorical appeal logos to relate with this claim. The author is still trying to grab the audience attention at this point by persuading them that obama is not to be trusted. It is almost like the intent was malicious because the author wanted to make obama look untrustworthy financially to American citizens. The author stated that Obama used family’s savings, spent daughter’s college savings, and took out a second mortgage on the house just for the game. The author did not have any credibility meaning he did not have any sources to back up his or her claims. The author did well with providing details to about two claims but not all which made the article very hard to believe. A general reader needs to know Obama personally, his lifestyle, and information on obama to understand this article. The article does not relate to the audience well because it does not provide any sources.
