There are situations where it’s easier to just do what you are told then it is to make yourself do what you are told. But that is essentially what it is about. Being a follower doesn’t mean you have to be a blind follower. To think of yourself as a one man squad would be the best analogy. You aren’t controlled by those above you, you are just taking commands from them.
One example of blind obedience exists in the novel in Chapter 4 when Jack leads a group of boys into the Jungle to go and hunt a pig. These boys get carried away with what the hunt and start chanting “Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Bash it in” (Golding 82). This particular moment in the novel shows that obedience can take over your body Blind obedience is basically doing things unconsciously by just following an authority figure because you feel he/she is doing something morally/legally correct.
It is simply just human nature to conform and obey when you are told to do something. Therefore, authority and obedience hold great power in society and what it can do. It can change things so fast and take control with a group of brainwashed
In the Ethnic Theory of Plane Crashes, blind obedience is shown when the flight crew failed to challenge the captain’s poor decision which resulted in the plane crashing. In today’s life we witness less force to be involved in making people to obey to authority but that force undergo a transformation and we can see it such as, this the way to do things, or this is the law, my boss said or to show faithfulness, these can be some examples in that regard. Another significant point is, since people are following the laws, they would have these beliefs that they are not doing anything wrong. Eventually people learn to do morally corrupted acts without any concerns or questioning that act. Our obedience to god demonstrates our faith, and according to Holman's Illustrated Bible dictionary a brief definition of biblical obedience is "to hear God's word and act accordingly. " This does not mean people should just follow orders, commands and directions from people in religious authority.
We’ve said that obedience is at the heart of political power. Most people would say that, culture is the ONLY thing that impacts the way you view the world. I disagree, I believe that culture has much to do with it, but it is not everything. Society and government require people to be obedient towards authority, but is it always the best thing to do? During the aftermath of World War II many of the major leaders of the Nazi regime were put on trial for crimes against humanity (History.com). These trials were known as the Nuremburg war trials, were most of the convicted proclaimed that they were “just following orders” (McLeod 584). Being an accomplice to a crime is also against the law. In the Nuremburg trials, those accused were not breaking the law that their government had created, they were actually following it.

In Fromm 's essay "Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem" he talks about the reason why people are obedient. Fromm states that they are obedient because most people do not have enough courage to be alone. Whey they are obedient, it makes them feel secure because they are accepted by society. On the other hand, disobedience is not accepted by society, so if people disobey, they become an outsider. For instance, if a person is raised to think that stealing is wrong, they have also witnessed how others who do steal are treated by society.
Fear and suspicion are often emotional anchors, emerging from an individual's ambition to be accepted. This desire to be recognized corresponds with the fear people associate around human judgment. The more desires one has, the greater the fear grows as those desires may not be filled. The author William Golding, discusses the idea that society protects humans from the untamed possessive nature that is wild within everyone through the use of young boys being stranded on an island and their attempt to replicate the environment of a common society. Ralph and Jack, two of the older boys who have opposing leadership values, depict the differences in the micro chasm of society on the island.

(King, 448) If a store manager tells you to put a shirt on before entering the store, you're more than likely going to comply due to their request due to their authority over the store. You might fear that if you do not comply, you won't be permitted inside or even police being called. That is simple obedience, but what if an authority figure asked you to inflict pain on another person?
Anything is a double-edged sword and so does obedience. Obedience has many functions. Submissiveness to a authentic leader is indispensable to win a war, and also, it provides stability for a country. From another point of view, it will lead to chaos and confusions in an institution without obedience. On the contrary, submission also has some limitations.
