1. When I first began reading this piece of work I knew I was going to enjoy it! The reason for this was because it reminded me of Romeo and Juliet! I also realized that this story was told in the third person through an unknown person as the narrator. I also realized that towards the middle it got a bit confusing for me that sometimes I had to take a minute and go back to assure I understood everything.
In the Odyssey by homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald, the Cyclops encounter is one of Odysseus’ greatest flaws and successes at the same time. It began to go downhill when Odysseus lies about his name and the condition of his ship. When him and his men are captured by the cyclops Odysseus claims his name is nobody, and his ship was wrecked, he does this to aid his escape plan and as a tactic to guard his name and men. When the escape plan is put into play, Odysseus stabs the cyclops in the eye with a red hot spear all the while him lying about his name was put into use because the cyclops yells, in agonizing pain, nobody stabbed him in the eye, this causes the other cyclops to lower there guard and not go to assist their brethren. A Midsummer night's dream is filled with different kinds of irony. There are three different kinds of irony . There is dramatic, situational and verbal. There were few example of situational irony in this text so i will not be giving examples of situational irony . One kind of irony is dramatic irony .
Most of the time, when a person thinks they can control another person, they are mistaken. A Midsummer’s Night Dream by William Shakespeare is a play that demonstrates the subject of control. Several Characters in the play attempts to make another person do what they want. An example in the story is when a woman named Helena is tries to force a man named Demetrius to love her by chasing him in the woods trying to persuade him. At the end, Shakespeare makes the case that it is not possible to control another person’s actions, because the results are unwanted and tragic.
In Act 3.2, Oberon tells Puck, “I want you to interrupt their search by makinging it foggy. Do not allow them to find each other… Once they are asleep, place this potion in Lysander's eyes to remove the pollen you mistakenly placed. ”(16) With that power of control by being the Fairy King, he is controlling his servant to have him things right between the couples. Oberon controls Puck by telling him what to do to the couple so they won't be able to find each other and fight.
Oberon always chose to manipulate and control others to do as he wished in his thirst for power. Oberon had been obsessed with taking the changeling from Titania ever since she had adopted the boy. But, Titania would always say that she took a vow to protect the boy and would never give him up to Oberon. Oberon neglected to listen to her and was focused on getting the child regardless. He went as far as putting a spell on his “true love” so that Titania would be susceptible to his suggestions, which enabled him to control her.
A renaissance man is a person with many talents or areas of knowledge. Shakespeare was an outstanding writer. The author might have an interest in Renaissance men. This might be the reason for the writer to be interested in this topic. Shakespeare was a renaissance man.
Controlling or Controlled Author Shannon L. Alder once said, “The need for control always comes from someone that has lost it.” In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Oberon lost the baby to his wife so now he wants to control her to get the baby back. In the play, Shakespeare shows that one is either or the controlled. People control each other for the power, they control each other for the valuable materials, and people are controlled because they don’t know how to control. If one is in the world of A Midsummer Night’s Dream they’re controlled or they’re controlling.
In the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream written by William Shakespeare, Oberon is the root of all the problems, and causes mischief. His meddlesome and narcissistic characteristics causes several issues. Although he tries to find the solution to problems, Oberon often makes the situation worse, such as the example when he tries to make the lovers fall in love with each other. Instead of succeeding, he makes the four lovers fight. Other examples are, when he makes Titania fall in love with Bottom, and when he tries to fix the problem Puck made.

Egeus, a respected nobleman in Athens, arranged for his daughter, Hermia, to marry nobleman Demetrius. Egeus tells his daughter that she must obey his wishes: if she does not, she can either choose to become a nun, or die. Hermia, much to her father 's dismay, is deeply in a mutual love with a different nobleman, Lysander.
The Taming of the Shrew is a romantic comedy. If comedic devices were not there The Taming of the Shrew would be just a normal romance. Comedic devices do work to develop the plot in The Taming of the Shrew. The are several comedic devices in this story: unexpected plot twists, witty language, disguises or costumes, young love with a struggle, and unity and harmony. These all contribute different comedic aspects to the plot and push the plot forward.
In the real world, love is a very fragile force. Love can be easily broken and manipulated by multiple other outside forces. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the two most basic themes are the chaos and order that are the causes of all the actions that take place. Chaos versus order in A Midsummer Night’s Dream also is a representation of Yin and Yang. Yin, represents the bad or darkness in the world, this is the chaos in the play.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream dealt with the universal theme of love and its complications: lust, disappointment, confusion, and marriage, featuring three interlocking plots, connected by a celebration of the wedding of Theseus, Duke of Athens and the Amazonian queen Hippolyta. The play rotates around different forms of love, two of them being love for friendship (Philia) and romantic (Eros) or true love. Love is the most important theme of the play and the asymmetrical love seen in the play between the four Athenians and romantic encounters cause conflict within the play. There is a strong friendship love between two characters, Hermia and Helena. These two ladies are regarded as sisters as they have grown up together always having each other’s

In William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream the circumstances surrounding love have been put into question, this occurs when a magical nectar is put in the eyes of three major characters, and changes their feelings towards the people in their lives. Titania, Lysander and Demetrius all have had the nectar put into their eyes, though Demetrius avoids having this done to him in act 2 scene 2 which is the scene that the focus of this paper will be looking at.
