America is facing an enormous problem. Obesity. It was rare to hear obesity related deaths, but recently after the 1970s, it has plagued America nation wide. By other countries, America is portrayed as the epitome of health and wellness, ironically it is ranked as the most over weight continent. While being obese, one is faced with an abundance of health complications such as, high blood pressure, clogged arteries, diabetes, heart failure, and the list could go on for ever. Millennials have to power to stop obesity, in order to put a halt to this exponential epidemic, corporations should steer away from utilizing processed and frozen foods and opt for fresh ingredients, furthermore, individuals must exercise personal responsibility to control …show more content…

Furthermore, individuals are responsible for what goes into their body, they must exercise personal responsibility to steer away from fatty foods and take time out of the day to introduce an exercise plan. Over fifty years ago, obesity was unheard of. Many families eat home cooked meals every night with the appropriate portion. However, when mothers and wives entered the workforce, families were not welcomed to a home cooked meal, because both spouses were employed. So fast food was seen as a convenience. In order to pull in more customers, fast food joints increased the amount of food, while lowering the cost. This led to the rise of obesity because many Americans were packing in hundreds of calories, while not working them off. Today’s generation could possibly stop obesity in its tracks, if awareness is spread about the negatives that being overweight can lead to. Moreover, the foods in fast food restaurants are comprised of many preservatives which are the leading cause of America's overweight problem. But to a problem there is always a solution. If fresh, lean grade A beef is substituted in burgers the amount of calories are slashed in half. Individuals must also take initiative and not every and anything because it is cheap and tasty.
