Obesity is the most dominant, lethal, lingering, and relapsing disorder in this century. The swift growth in obesity has been a major public concern over the past twenty years. We live in a country that is overwhelmed with obesity, even though America is a very advanced country with technology, and has great economic power. As humans age our body weight has a tendency to increase as well. Today, especially in America, obesity has become so accustomed to people of all ages. Did you know The United States is the most obese country in the world with 34% of the adult population classified as obese? Obesity is not only a concern of appearance, it is more a concern of a person’s health. According to (OAC): Obesity is a condition that is associated with having an excess of body fat, defined by genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control when dieting. Obesity is classified as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater. BMI is a tool used to measure obesity. Based on the data from Health Effects of Obesity, each year obesity-related conditions causes an estimated 300,000 premature deaths in the U.S. Being obese has a lot to do with diet and what you put in your body. Us America’s are always on the go and have a fast-paced life. Also, most American people work a full-time job and have children to cart around to various activities. With vigorous schedules, cooking and eating as a family at home is not always possible. Like most American’s, including myself, we settle for a fast food restaurant to either take home for dinner or eat on the way to an event.
