The amount of obese people is a lot more now than it has been in the past, and people are learning about all the damages it can cause to their bodies. It is important to be educated in obesity because of how damaging it is. Obesity has become a very big problem and has increased majorly in the United States. Many things can cause obesity, including genetics, poor diets, and exercise. The government has been trying to control the epidemic, but many people think there is nothing the government can do. Obesity has become a major problem in the United States, and the statics show have much it has risen over the years, and why it is a problem that needs to be controlled. Forcing restaurants to display calorie counts has also raised some controversy with in the country. There are many different opinions on what’s right. “Opponents charge that the federal government simple has business forcing privately owned restaurants to post calorie counts, if costumers cared about calorie counts they claim, they would refuse to eat at restaurants that didn’t display them” (“Fat World”). The government can do everything they want to try and control obesity and help people understand why it is so bad, but it may not help because many people more people are eating junk food more often and are eating more than in the past. This is partially because people are eating at restaurants more and going to Fast Food chains where the food is less healthy and in bigger portions (“Diet and Obesity”).
