Advanced countries have high rate of obesity in today. Among the countries, the obesity rate of the United States is the top. Unfortunately, the obesity rate continues to increase, and the complications developed from obesity such as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes have led to death. Thus, many experts of health have concerned about society that has many obese people and focus on finding underlying cause of obesity. There have been many different arguments about factors of obesity. Generally, those argument have been divided by two big categories: environment and genetics. Overall, due to that environment causes obesity, the Untied State need government’s obesity intervention. To determine whether the government should intervene or not, people should learn what the main cause of the obesity is. The arguments are divided by environment and gene, the most related cause is environment. There have been many arguments that obesity is mostly related with environment. One of researchers argued that “food and physical activity are the most prevalent mediators of environmental effects on bodyweight.” (McAdams 463). However, People in the United States are surrounded by unhealthy lifestyle such as eating habits and lack of exercise. Human’s inclination to seek for convenience has developed in their life. It had also been applied to their dietary life. However, development such as processed food negatively affect people’s health instead of providing convenience. In any big supermarket, consumers can easily find and buy frozen corn dog, pasta, and even frozen vegetable rather than fresh ingredients.
