It is an inconsiderate action, to remain ignorant to the epidemic of obesity that has plagued or country. America is turning into a soft, uncompetitive, unmotivated land that is a direct result of our over indulgence and security in food. According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, over 78 million Americans are obese. This extra weight we are forcing ourselves to carry holds several emotional problems and costs that are detrimental to our country. It has become a staple of our society, food is accessible, inexpensive, and comforting. Our day to day lives consist more of sitting behind a desk and wheel than before, and a result of this has led to the increase of obesity. Our own way of life has created an unhealthy culture that has been adopted by our youth. Parents are in denial of their own children, and therefore are beginning to teach that it is acceptable to be obese, as it satisfies their immediate gratification. 70% of parents with obese children deny the fact their …show more content…

With the decline of obesity, everything from doors, to clothes can be made smaller, and with less material. This will increase revenue for companies and lead to a financial increase on domestic products. Due to the camps as well, new job positions will open, introducing a new industry for American workers, having to supply for these camps, or directly working in them.
Secondly, children will be directed away from the developed trend towards obesity. This is an indirect way to influence the future of our country to maintain their physique and understand the important of it.
Thirdly, the simple fact that former campers are marked by their wires, will create a sense of taboo and fear around obesity. Being obese will not be accepted as it is now, but it will be considered scandalous. Due to people’s emotional need to fit in and avoid persecution, this will keep people from overcoming the weight
