President Abraham Lincolns Obituary on 16th April 1865 It is on a sad note that we announce the death of the late President Abraham Lincoln who passed on yesterday (15th April 1865) at 7:20 am through an assassination. He was born on February 12, 1809. He died at the age of 56. He was the sixteenth president of U.S who ruled from March 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He was the president of U.S during the times of civil war. It was the bloodiest war and caused significant moral, political, and constitutional crisis. He brought many developments through modernization of the economy through banks, tariffs, and railway lines. He used a strategy of fighting back to the people against him of planning political patronage. He was good in oratory and among his best speech was the Gettysburg's Address. It had the endorsement of the principles of nationalism, republicanism, equality, liberty, and democracy. He was a significant figure in the abolition of slavery in America. He foresaw the proclamation of Emancipation in 1863 and used the U.S Army to offer protection to the slaves (Taylor, 2000). He also called for the neighboring states to abolish slavery and pushed for the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Through self-education, he studied as a lawyer that was a critical contribution to his political career. Before, he contested for the presidency; he served in the House of Representatives in 1834 to 1846 among other places. We remember President Abraham Lincoln for his tireless fight on slavery by issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that was the basis of freedom for American Slaves. He pushed for the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution to end slavery in America. He also decided to fight in the prevention of splitting the nation through civil wars. The move led to Unity and preservation of United States as one nation. Abraham Lincoln was a role model for the character, leadership, and honesty that made many presidents try to emulate him. Some of his speeches were great before and during his presidency. They include; House Divided Speech, the Cooper Union Address, Gettysburg's Address, and Second Inaugural Address (Norton, 2015).
