Observation Paper
For my field experience that took place on two different days at two different schools in Oskaloosa, several observations took place in two different environments. My first observation took place at Wilson Elementary with first graders. I observed Mr. O’Brien’s class and his students, the environment of his class was very energetic and set up well for the first graders, and there was about 11 students in his class total. Throughout the short amount of time I’ve spent with the students, I’ve been inflicted with insightful educational wisdom and how he run his class, it’s very creative. However at the second school which was at in Eddyville Elementary, I observed a kindergarten class. Both environments are learning environments that had similarities, also some differences. What stuck out to me the most both classes I observed had variety of cultures, and both classes had about 12 students. There are many different technologies out there that students can benefit in the classroom to help with different learning skills. There are many Internet sites that can help, computer programs that you can download for a specific subject like math or reading or even writing, and even games to name a few. As I observed the kindergarten class, the teacher had her students use the smart board to put there ABC’s in order from letter A to Z, I found quite interesting that 4 and 5 year olds new how to use this smart board to their knowledge.
