Independence • Do you observe: growth in confidence & ability; growth in ease of relating positively to others? Yes Teaghan has actually gained confidence in her ability to be self-sufficient. Near the beginning of observation Teaghan was not able to wash her hands without seeking assistance from a teacher (9/16). Since that time she has been able to go to the sink with the ability to turn it on, pump the soap dispenser, and pump herself a paper towel to dry her hands. She accomplished this by herself six out of the nine times she was seen washing her hands. Teaghan is able to relate positively to others because she is will to help and offer her friends the chance to do the same. Teaghan does not hesitate during clean up to jump right in, on the 16th of September Teaghan walked over to Carter who was trying to pick up a tub full of toys and said “let me help!” After helping to put the tub on the shelf, Teaghan immediately goes over to Aidan who is dragging a doll house and picks up the other side helping him put it away. Both of these instances were met with immediate praise from Ms. Sue. On the 26th of October Teaghan was helping to clean up and when she saw Charlie sitting with nothing to do because he had finished cleaning his space she said “Charlie if you want to help me that’s ok.” She gave him the option to help instead of telling him or telling on him for the fact he was not doing any work. • …show more content…
Teaghan was able to play alone at the beginning of observations but she has shown that she can play with others just as easily. Although she doesn’t have a problem with sharing she does seem to have difficulty taking others ideas into account while playing. Teaghan has shown improvement in independence also when it comes to being able to wash her hands by herself. She no longer requires the aid of teachers to do things for her. b) Red
