During my stay in this foreign land I have come across an intriguing set of content in their local newspaper. Within the pages of The Federalist several concepts are discussed that seem to me to be quite revolutionary.

A combination of cultures and ideas can swell and burst if not contained in an appropriate vessel. This is the idea that drives the idea of the Union. Any chance to drive a stake through the cracks in this vessel must be taken advantage of if any entity wished to disband this precariously rising force. One potential stake to investigate is war. Their writers account for this by continually reinforcing the idea that a perpetually unified nation provides the best defense against potential conflict. Jay goes on to describe that people’s influence in the prevention war, “depends not only on their forbearing to give just causes of war to other nations, but also on their placing and continuing themselves in such a situation as not to invite hostility or insult; for it need not be observed that there are pretended as well as just causes of war” (Pg. 40 Paper 4 Jay) Surely a divided nation would make for an opportune situation in land acquisition.
