Students learn in different ways and styles and I believe this is key to developing a program that engages all students. Every student has a unique learning style and this means that I must be well versed and prepared to cater and deliver a wide range of individual needs. This means that in order to support and foster knowledge growth the learning environment should be stimulating, engaging and offering a range of resources that cater to a range of individual needs. While I have only had experience so far as a CRT and a Drama teacher, I have had many challenges. Some of these have been;
• Observing key teaching strategies that placement mentor teachers have used in their classrooms, some of these I have since implemented in my own teaching including open class discussions and behaviour management techniques
• How the capacity to work with colleagues enables teachers to continually learn and adapt teaching styles with the aid of colleagues. This is something I have seen is a strong focus at Phoenix P-12 Community College. I have been able to work with teachers through PLC meetings in small groups to look at how we can improve our skills to improve student engagement and student learning. I have personally worked with Lana Ford to improve my classroom questioning skills which I hope to use my new learned skills to better target my classroom discussions to improve student participation and classroom learning
• Developing and maintaining a better stronger teaching and learning relationship between teachers and their students
• The importance of students working in groups aimed at like-minded or similar abilities students, enabling students to create a deeper learning
