Everyone has their unique dreams and ambitions, but not everyone will come to realize them or fulfill them. In the magical realism novel, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a young shepherd boy by the name of Santiago is on a journey to fulfill his Personal Legend. Along the way, he encounters many obstacles. Many people like him attempt to follow their dreams, but never end up fulfilling them. I believe that Santiago's pursuit of his Legend somewhat mirrors my life because just like Santiago, I have encountered many obstacles and challenges while on my journey to fulfill my dreams and aspirations, and I try to listen to the language of my heart and understand it, just like how Santiago did. The Alchemist has taught me that setbacks are not meant to stop you, but rather that they are growth opportunities, shaping me into a better person every day.
