1.To think about I hardly ever see women breastfeed in public. I think its a natural thing and it should be up to the woman if she wants to breastfeed in public cover up or not. After reading about women having trouble breast feeding a baby when not covered up it would be even harder for women to breastfeed covered up.
2.If wrote a letter to an Obstetrician I would recommend around 28 weeks that they should talk about how women should breastfeed, the benefits breastfeeding (Increase levels of Oxycontin, stimulates uterine, contractions, minimizes maternal postpartum blood loss and helps the uterus to return to non-pregnant size, fertility is delayed with breastfeeding, and helps mother lose weight),getting their breast ready to start feeding right after the baby is born and to start pumping 6 hours

As a male RD I would not have a problem discussing the risks of formula feeding I would promote benefits of breastfeeding. For me being a male I think that some women might have a problem with a male telling them benefits of breastfeeding. I would educate and let them know the breastfeeding is better than formula feeding.
The benefits I would suggest about breastfeeding
Nutritionally balanced meals
Higher IQ
Protection against common childhood illnesses and infections
Better survival during the first year of life, including lower risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Less chance of developing some allergic diseases
Less chance of developing type 1 diabetes
Physical and emotional benefits of breastfeeding directly from the mother 's breast due to skin-to-skin contact
If my client in NICU asked about formula feeling I wouldn 't mind answering their question but I would still highly recommend breastfeeding. If the baby is prenatal I would tell the mother that her milk is better than formula. If the mother is not making making milk or not enough would suggest the donor milk program that she could until her starts producing milk . In very few cases I would recommend
