Occupational Therapy is the Career for Me

For most of my childhood I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian or a nurse. I knew from the beginning that I had a heart for helping people and animals. Once I was in high school my dream of becoming a veterinarian and nurse slowly disappeared, but I still knew I wanted a career that focused on helping people though. That is when I started researching different types of careers that were in the health field and I stumbled upon occupational therapy. I started look further into the field of OT. That was when I contacted family friend of mine that is an occupational therapist for First Steps and asked if I could job shadow her. My passion and drive that I have to become a prosperous OT is what the program needs. I have a hardworking mindset in everything I do and it shows through my academic success. When I do a task whether that be through work or for school I always try my hardest and dedicate myself to the task. My hard work and dedication will help me become successful during my time in OT schooling. Determination is a valuable asset that I have. When I am giving a task I am determine to complete the task in orderly manner and professional; at my job with Grafton Peek Catering, I am given task during wedding receptions and events to make the experience the best it possibly can be. At my work setting I have to be equipped to be professional and hardworking. Lastly, I have the passion and drive to become an occupational therapist. My passion for caring and helping people will show in clinical work throughout graduate school.
