Occupational therapist work around the world with a vast variety of different patients ranging from geriatrics to pediatrics. There are many different variables and obstacles that occupational therapist face in working with their patients. It remains unknown whether an occupational therapist intervention with a pediatric is affected by parent involvement. In this review there is a variety of reviews exploring the effect of the parent-child relationship, family-centered practices, intervention with an occupational therapist, and social development. This helps highlight the role of parents as the primary support to their child’s growth and development. It also increases the family-centered nature of occupational therapy. Parent involvement provides more relevant intervention in their daily lives and helps show improvement in the child’s outcome.
