As a naturally curious child, I was always intrigued by the whys and hows of the world. This curiosity only grew after I decided to study psychology. Psychology appeared foreign to me when I finished school. I can still vividly picture myself examining my application form and wondering what this subject would teach me. I was completely taken aback when my professor entered the room and introduced the subject. She was an impressive woman who came from a solid teaching background. I was constantly in awe of her and the lessons she taught. She would never try to hide how enthralled she was with psychology, even after years of teaching the same topic. The biological and environmental factors that could affect this age group piqued my interest. I obtained a certificate in tobacco cessation counseling to find ways to make the lives of children affected by substances more promising. Working with children I wondered how else I could be of service to children in need of therapeutic care. This led me to work with a pediatric neurologist for 3 years. Here I focused my attention on neuro-developmental disorders. I collaborated with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and physiotherapists to provide early intervention care and support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities. I continued working similarly with children in a school as a counselor for four years. I learned about the challenges students face in a mainstream setup that puts emphasis on curriculum based general learning. The students coming to me would actively seek skilled based activities and loved art based tools in their sessions. To enhance my skills and have working tools that included art, I pursued a diploma in Arts Based Therapy. This diploma was truly a turning point for me. It introduced me to myself and helped me
