Occupational therapy is a profession that teaches meaningful, functional, and adaptive life skills. After reading two stories from the book ordinary miracles, in which both were different, they were closely related to occupational therapy.

Living in rural Wisconsin, Barbara Schroder, worked for 25 years operating various sewing machines, performed repetitive, manipulative, and occasionally heavy work involving the use of both arms and hands. Therefore, when workers’ compensation was approved, she was referred to Occupational Therapy. During her treatment on her wrist, post carpal tunnel surgery, she received encouragement and hope to be able to function independently.
