Purpose: To inform its audience about various divisions of occupational therapy.

Lauren, the website owner, is an occupational therapist. Lauren started her website as a student in her graduate year at college. On the website, Lauren has written articles documenting different aspects of her daily life in relation to her profession, occupational therapy. She also writes about her experiences in college while studying occupational therapy. Though her experience is her own, the main purpose of the website content is to give prospective occupational therapy students an insight as to what the profession is about. In them, she relays educational materials intended for the benefit of someone seeking O.T. care. In these web articles, her primary audience is prospective OT patients, patients and the families of these individuals. As a secondary audience, Occupational therapy students may read it as a reference for information and ideas. Coworkers may also read it for fresh ideas that have already been implemented and acquired results. However, the website’s targeted demographics are occupational therapy students and colleagues as most articles are written with them in focus. These groups will read for personal interest and most likely have parallel relation to her topics.
Lauren’s website platform is hosted by WordPress. WordPress platform is very much like Microsoft word and therefore she can implement a similar page setting which makes her articles easier for the layperson to maneuver. Her articles boast adequate line spacing, readable font and size, visible colors. The articles are properly punctuated and the language use is not too complex for the layperson to understand. It is also note that they are described using simple terms and examples that can be found in the everyday lives of the ordinary people. This is evidence that Lauren took into consideration her layperson.
In some articles, questions are used as the heading. For example, “How to Get Occupational Therapy Observation Hours” this is an article in her series for people contemplating applying to occupational therapy schools. The article engages the layperson by stipulating a direct reaction. Using a “literal” questions posed as a heading she tells her audience exactly what will be covered. In the same way, the article concisely answers the question. This is also an example of her writing different article for her different audience
