Julius Caesar, the famed Roman general and politician, was a figure who commanded respect and admiration from his contemporaries. Caesar’s motives were based on the advice from his companions and historical figures that had come before him. Many characters could be seen as potential heroes of Caesar. The first potential hero of Caesar is Gaius Octavius, also known as Augustus Caesar. After Caesar had been assassinated, Octavius was one of the key figures of the power struggle that had followed. He had ultimately become victorious in these endeavors and had been proclaimed the first Emperor of the Roman Empire. Octavius had been described as a skilled statesman and military leader that had oversaw a period of relative peace for Rome. His actions had earned the admiration of many people, including Caesar himself. Caesar was known to have described Octavius as a brilliant young man who had great potential. Mark Antony was a great friend and trusted general to Caesar, and he had a key role in Caesar's rise to power. Antony had been against the conspirators that had assassinated Caesar. After the assassination he had become a key figure in the struggle for power aligning himself with Octavius. He, Octavius, and Lepidu had eventually formed the Second Triumvirate, which had led Rome during the aftermath of the assassination until Octavius had become emperor. Like Caesar, Antony was a skilled orator and general which had earned the admiration of many Romans.
