Nixon Waterman once remarked, “Say ‘I will!’ and then stick to it- That’s the only way to do it”. This quote inspires people like these two characters to be determined and work for the goal they want to achieve. Using this they both go through successful journeys and fight through their enemies. The suitors in Odysseus’ house made him very vengeful after all that they did. The suitors will finally pay after all that they have done. Odysseus is finally home and can now do to them what they deserve: “Your last hour has come. You die in blood” (22. 40). Odysseus is not one to be messed with and the suitors did just that. When he returned home he found out that they took his cattle, slept with his maids, and just in general used his house. He was not very happy with them and wanted to get revenge for what they had done. Once again Odysseus shows his vengefulness when his crew gets turned into pigs. Odysseus sends his crewmates into the castle of Circe and Circe turns them into pigs. Odysseus finds this out and tries to kill her: “Circe gives Odysseus a magic drink, but it does not affect him and he threatens / to kill her with his sword” (10). Hermes gave Odysseus a magic plant that protects him from whatever Circe throws at him. Any tricks that she tries to play he will be protected from them. Circe tries to use a spell on Odysseus and it does not work. Odysseus threatens to kill Circe if she does not turn his men back to normal. Keeping his crewmates safe is something that Odysseus did and he kept them alive from the Sirens. To further show this trait Odysseus used his strong leadership and made sure that his crewmates got home safely and were not left on any islands. Odysseus sent out three men to an island so they could explore and they ate lotus flowers which made them want to
