Usually behind every great team there is a great leader leading the way. Rather it be the president of a country, or the manager of a convenient store, leaders pave the way to make sure everyone is successful. A great example of a leader is Odysseus. Odysseus was faced to save his men from the Lotus Eaters, he had to reap the repercussions of the men opening the air bags, and he was forced to take the fall for his men eating Hilo’s cattle. In my opinion, not only do they pave the way to ensure everyone’s success, but they also take on the responsibility of the actions of the people they supervise, and here’s how. I began my argument by beginning at the time that King Aleous provided Odysseus with all of the bad winds to make sure that he had the opportunity to have a safe trip back to his home in Ithaca. His men took it upon themselves to open the bag, thus exposing the cataclysmic winds which sent them back to Aeaea, the home of the witch goddess Circe. Odysseus ended up spending five years in Aeaea. Although Odysseus could have told his men what was in the bag, his men were responsible for them being in Aeaea for the time being all because they took it upon themselves to open the bag. . Odysseus’ men had partaken of the lotus fruit and they didn’t want to leave the Land of the Lotus Eaters. When the men ate the lotus plant, they were forgetful of their purpose. Odysseus took responsibility of the men and was forced to physically tie them to ships to get them away from the Land of the Lotus Eaters. The men fought back and were saddened by the fact they had to leave, and Odysseus forcefully instructed the rest of his men to retreat to the ship out of the fear that more would partake of the Lotus Plant.
