Odysseus: The Archetypal Hero

You’ve seen it everywhere; books, movies, t.v shows, they all have got it. But what exactly for all intents and purposes is “it”? “It” is the Elements of the Archetypal Hero. This concept was actually theorized by Joseph Campbell. From older classics such as The Odyssey written by Homer and newer classics such as George Lucas’s Star Wars: A New Hope, these elements can be seen being portrayed. Though both heroes definitely display standard content from the Archetypal Hero persona, Odysseus proves to have encountered the greater challenge and in result, making Odysseus the greater hero overall.
