In the early eighth century Homer was born in Ionia, Asia Minor which is now Turkey. Homer is the author of two major poets called the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey” that played a role in Greek culture and greatly influenced Greek values, literature, and culture. The importance of these two major poets is that they are the first epic poems that explain to us about life and Ancient Greece during the time of the Trojan War.
