The book “Of Mice And Men” written by John Steinbeck had many lonely characters. Not once did the book talk about families because there weren't a lot of families that's why they had susy’s place. Some of the characters only had themselves and they had no one to depend on. Some lonely characters in the book are Crook, Curley’s wife, and Candy many of them just needed someone to talk to. Crook didn't really fit it anywhere he didn't feel welcomed because he was a darker complexion. In chapter 4 page 66 in the first paragraph it says “Cooks, the negro stable buck, had his bunk in the harness room; a little shed that leaned off the wall of the barn.” He stated many times that he just wanted to be alone like on page 68 he says “You got no right to come in my room.
