“Of Mice and Men” is a book written by John Steinbeck about George and Lennie who after running from their previous job on a farm because of a mistake; end up working on another farm to make money for their dream of buying land and running their farm. Throughout their time working George meets new people and interacts with them such as he is to be considered as a good friend. The author uses these interactions to portray George’s characteristics and show him as a good friend. One occurrence when George is shown to be a good friend is when he comforts Lennie before they are about to eat. In chapter 1 George and Lennie are in an unfamiliar place and Lennie asks George to tell him “about the rabbits” so George does to comfort Lennie.
George Milton is tried for the death of Lennie Small on one count of murder and two counts of manslaughter. His plea is not guilty. I believe the evidence presented by both the defense team and the prosecutors proved George Milton to be guilty of manslaughter. After a lengthy conversation in the jurors room, I along with the jury reached the verdict that George Milton is in fact guilty of manslaughter. I believe George Milton knowingly cause the death of a man, Lennie Small, while enduring extreme fear.
John Steinbeck uses George in Of Mice and Men to symbolize him as a caring friend, brains of the two, and the one to provide everything for Lennie. George, on the other hand,is the opposite. He is short and knows what he is doing when it comes to work. Lennie was dangerous to everything around him and he also liked to pet soft things.
In John Steinbeck’s compelling novel Of Mice and Men, the courageous George Milton acts as an outstanding man by portraying valued characteristics in order to succeed in his life situation. George takes responsibility for Lennie’s and his actions and uses his intelligence to help both of them succeed as much as they possibly can. Loyalty is a greatly cherished trait that George possesses through several friendships he has. George participates in several relationships that revolve around the admirable quality of loyalty that George has. He remains loyal to childish Lennie through all of his foolish mistakes.

“He looked at the back of Lennie’s head at the place where the spine and skull were joined” (105) in John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men, the main character, George Milton, had to make the difficult decision to end the life of his friend, Lennie Smalls. This explains some of what was happening in George’s brain when killing Lennie. What's happening is that he wanted to end it himself so know one would hurt him even more that what George was doing. Although most people would agree that killing another person is wrong. George is justified in killing Lennie because Lennie did not know what he was doing, Lennie made George’s life difficult, and George know their dream would never come true.
The character George in Of Mice and Men is an example of this. This character acts as Lennie’s care keeper and only friend, even though he admitted that he too once played jokes on the mentally disabled Lennie he started to watch out for him after his aunt passed away. Throughout the book George tells Lennie stories about how they are going to buy their own land and will never have to work for anybody ever again. He tells these stories to Lennie whenever things don’t seem to be going right as way to cope, but he also firmly believes that they will be able to achieve this dream. George spent his time working hard to earn enough money to make this dream come true and failed to notice the potential violence Lennie was showing.
In Of Mice and Men, George is one of the characters who lost hope to his friend Lennie, through the actions/troubles Lennie had made. It is also shown in the book with other character 's actions. George is Lennie 's best friend who lost hope on Lennie because Lennie keep on getting in trouble. Lennie is a big, muscular man, but he is also unintelligent and irresponsible.
He is a hard worker and a great friend to Lennie Small; the man whom George travels with. He is an unintelligent man who is as strong as a bull. George and Lennie travel alone from farm to farm. George often gets angry with him because he is like a child, always gets into trouble, asks idiotic questions frequently, forgets everything, and cries over anything. George became plagued with loneliness and alienation because he only had Lennie.
To say this as kind as possible, George’s dreams were in an uncrackable safe and Lennie was the safe itself. Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, was my favorite story that I read this year. The characters were interesting and there wasn’t a lot of characters either, which I liked. I also enjoyed the plot twist at the end and probably wouldn’t have ever saw it coming if I didn’t have it spoiled for me.

In Of Mice and Men, the dream is to leave the life of work and travel behind and live on a ranch, in War Dance, the goal is to do well at the national music competition, and in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Walter Mitty hopes for a more interesting life in a series of daydreams, to ultimately find that he has been living the true daydream. Hope, dreams, and goals allowed the people portrayed, fictional or not, to strive for more. Hopes, dreams, and goals allow people to increase their motivation, perform better, and seek new concepts. To start, hopes, dreams, and goals allow an increase in motivation by giving a person something to strive for.
The lyrics of “Over the Rainbow”, composed by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, is in some ways an “Odyssey”, or a long and wandering voyage. The first lyric that shows traits of an Odyssey, was in the first line. Arlen and Harburg wrote,” Somewhere over the rainbow, Way up high, There’s a land that I heard of, Once in a lullaby.” (Citation). This is like an Odyssey, because it takes you away from the land that you are used to.
When the book Mice and Men starts, We meet two of the main characters named Lennie Small, and George Milton. Lennie acts as if he is a lunatic. George acts if he was Lennies father. The men are heading towards a ranch in order to work. We learn Lennie is fascinated with touching the softness of items such as a dress, which got them ran out of their last home.
George is an average man who works hard to make a living. Like most people, George wants to live the American dream. In the novelette Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George Milton is a diverse character with several important traits. Two of his main traits are controlling and caring. These seemingly contradictory traits make George an interesting character to read about.
