In the story Of Mice and Men the author John Steinbeck wrote this book as a thriller. You won't be able to set down until it is finished. John Steinbeck theme in the story is basically about goals and dreams. In the book George and Lennie both have dreams. One of the dream they want to own a farm one day with chicken and rabbits they, also had other dreams and goals but i think that one was more important. What this one means is that it could help them get a better life. Also i think the author may have put this in here for his readers he might have wanted his readers to see this and learn for it also or even build for it. They probably accomplished some of them so her wanted to put some on the book too. That is why he put it in the book it it is the two main characters George and Lennie he wanted them to get far and succeed in life. During the middle of the book the second tone comes out. The second is when everything snaps into reality. Some people start dying, Lennie is getting out of control. It is getting harder for George and Lennie to teach their goals and dreams that they talked about. In 1940 Steinbeck was divorce he probably didn’t think that is was going to happen so he wasn’t quite ready for reality to hit him yet (Commire 176). He may have put that in there so we know that a time in life your goals and dreams might come to a halt. Things will happen for the best and a moment in time reality will hit you, you might fall but you have to be ready to get back up. Also, maybe when he was a child he was looking forward to accomplishing something and he was so close but then reality hit him and brought him down.
