In the short story “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck. The main characters, George and Lennie, find a job at a farm. Crooks is an African American that has worked on the ranch for a while, and he takes care of the animals and Candy is an old man that lost his hand in a machine accident. The story is about George and Lennie working to get their dream place one day.
