I am very eager and excited to have the opportunity to work as a Development Office Assistant in the Office for Equity and Diversity. As a business student, I feel this will be a great opportunity for me to expand my skills business wise and be able to improve and strengthen my connections with professionals.

Also, as a minority student in a predominantly white institution, I do not have many chances to connect with people of color in higher education. I want to be able to work with people of color and higher education people of color, so that I feel represented and inspired.

I have been the Director of Fundraising for the Asian American Student Association (AASA) for two years now. I have always met my fundraising goals. As Director of Fundraising, I have been able to raise $1500 to $2000 for the past two years. This was made possible by writing and editing proposals, and as well as searching and reaching out to potential sponsors. The Inclusion Center is a non-profit organization that works with kids and adults from all walks of life on social issues and eliminating discrimination. Working as a counselor for their youth camp, Anytown, has taught me how to interact and be socially aware working with diverse communities and individuals. As a current student leader at CESA, I will continue to have chances to work with staff and faculty of color. I will also continue to have opportunities to work and interact with students from MECHA, BSU, ITSA, PISA, and the LGBTQ Resource Center. Being a leader at CESA, has given me the opportunity to meet other underrepresented students like myself in higher education.
