The movie Office Space, 1999 is a great comedy written and directed by Mike Judge. It is one of the movies that a person can watch more than once and enjoy it each time. This film reflects an American corporate culture and frustration of the employees within corporate world. One of the reasons why this film became a cult is because many people have experienced some of the same frustrations and problems at their workplace. Many people experience some of the same problems at their workplace. One of the biggest obstacles the main character experiences is the lack of motivation. “The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.”(Mike Judge) It is certain that management didn’t listen to employees and haven’t tried to discover their potential. Peter thinks that his job is useless and completely pointless and he doesn’t have any motivation to continue working. Besides motivation, there is a problem working hours. Employees don’t like Bill, because he continuously asks people to come in on the weekends. People don’t feel like they have any time for their personal business. Workers are not compensated for the extra time and weekends at work and they begin to hate it. Generally, management has a poor relationship with employees. Upper management doesn’t remember the names of employees and can’t even pronounce some of them. It seems like employees don’t have a goal, which makes it even more difficult for people to value their work. The Initech promotes wrong behaviors by promoting Peter and his attitude.
