Seuss was a very powerful man who wrote books and spoke effective life lessons that can change the world. One of the lessons he taught is that people can make a difference. The Lorax “cared a whole awful lot” about the environment when the Once-ler, a man who invented the Thneed, conquered the land of Truffula trees and was destroying the animals’ habitats (Bright Drops). This quote shows that everyone should be more sympathetic about what is happening in the world because when times are horrendous, that is when we care. This is like the Holocaust because in the beginning when the Jews were getting dragged away, the non-Jews just stood on the side and observed as their neighbors got transported to a different area. After the Holocaust, people started caring about what happened, teaching teens, and trying to prevent it from happening again. The quote from The Lorax also teaches us that a person can make a difference, but only if they work hard and have a lot of passion to make a difference. Another lesson Dr. Seuss wanted to teach his readers is to “not worry . . . just go along” (Bright Drops). Seuss composed books that were different and unique from other children's books. Dr. Seuss inscribed “simple rhymes” in his books that made him so unique from other children rhyming books like Favorite Nursery Rhymes from Mother Goose (Knoji). His rhyming books told stories that taught little children how to read. In other rhyming books, those books are only for toddlers to read. However, all the books Dr. Seuss writes are not all for kids. Older children read Dr. Seuss books because his books are not boring and childish; they are fun to read for any ages. Also, his rhymes are used in school to teach students life lessons that can benefit them in the future. Another reason why Dr. Seuss’ books are very unique is because he “sparked the imagination of children” (Knoji). In his books, he creates many imaginary characters and places. When his readers read his books, in their minds; they can imagine all the characters and settings. For example, in The Lorax, the story takes place in a town called Thneedville and the air quality there is not great so they use portable air. In the reader’s mind, they can picture a town where everything is fake and people using portable air. Another example is the book Green Eggs and Ham, the readers can picture a place where they eat green eggs and ham and two characters arguing in different places. Dr. Seuss wrote books that started the imagination of children. Children, teens, and adults read the books Dr. Seuss
