I am writing to express my interest in the position of the Primary Literacy Collaborative Trainer in the Department Teaching and Learning at the Ohio State University (OSU). I completed my dissertation oral defense in this early June and will officially graduate from the OSU in August 2107. I specialize in Foreign, Second, and Multilingual Language Education and in Educational Technology. I am confident that my educational background and teaching and work experiences will enable me to fulfil the duty of this position. I received professional training in teaching foreign and second language in the Master’s and doctoral programs at the OSU. Through graduate coursework, I have learned the processes of foreign and second language acquisition, language teaching methods and theories, how to design language curricula and teaching materials, and how to assess students’ language competence, including reading and writing competence. In addition, I have experience in teaching and working with K-12 learners, including English language learners, to improve their literacy competence. When working at the Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing at the OSU, I not only helped diverse students improve their academic writing ability but also planned and provided new and existing writing consultants with training in philosophies of writing centers, theories of academic writing and tutoring, and strategies of giving local and ELL learners writing feedback on various writing genres in online and face-to-face consultations.
