As time wears on and the population in America grows the demand for oil has never been higher, but as the demand grows the supply depletes from the Earth. What do we as Americans do to satisfy our petroleum needs and wants? Where do we go to help get our oil when our current supply is gone? Even though oil could ruin the forest and wildlife, the United States should begin drilling for oil on a large scale because it would make us less dependent on imports, bring down oil prices, and give Americans more jobs. In North America, on the coasts and even inland in some places there are believed to be massive oil wells that have never been tapped into. Hutttinga stated that there could be more than 10 billion barrels of oil under Alaska (To Drill or Not to Drill). This supports my thesis because it proves that there is enough oil in the Americas to drill on a large scale and not have to import oil. Dears stated that in North America there is enough oil to sufficiently supply the needs of the United States, Canada, and Mexico for Decades “Three Reasons Why We Should Drill for Oil in the United Sates”. This quote supports my thesis by showing people that not only is there enough oil for just …show more content…
While the demand for oil grows the reserves depletes the prices of oil have risen 300% in a year (Oil Opposing Views). The statement backs my thesis up because it is clear that the more oil that is used up the less there is so companies will charge more since it is quickly becoming a harder to come by resource. However, if drilling in the United States started the oil price is said to drop a total of a dollar and sixty-six cents. (Should We Drill for Oil in Alaska). This backs my thesis up in many ways because it shows that importing makes gas more and it will also drive down the oil price. If the oil drilling began in the United States we would see a drop in prices for almost all Americans
