Oil is causing so much pain yet so much relief for the Middle East. Oil is very common in the Middle East, being able to find it almost anywhere. Oil is very useful, and for that purpose, it’s also very pricey. A site known as cotf.edu states that, as oil prices rise, more countries in the Middle East benefit from the newly-gained money. The money can be spent on a variety of things to financially assist families in the Middle East. While oil has also been known to cause negative effects, such as wars over oil, which lost a lot of lives, the positives outweigh the negatives. For example, from a book titled Geography Alive!, because of how rich countries are from oil, life expectancy has increased by 15 years. Overall, oil is definitely beneficial to the Middle East, as it can provide better housing, and better education. In the light of the Middle East gaining the oil money for decades, citizens are able to get better housing, and a greater living experience. While there are plenty of people who have the money in the Middle East, a large sum of people can’t afford to send people to schools. On top of that, some schools just aren’t sufficient enough to apply the right amount of academics. That’s where the oil money comes in. The money can be utilized to build or upgrade schools, and improve the education level, and help more children and teenagers succeed. According to cotf.edu, since the new wealth was discovered, more people enrolled into schools, and literacy among adults rose from 34%, which was in 1970, to 53% in 1990.
