Johnson County, nestled between the Arkansas River and the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Northwest Arkansas, is a quiet and sparsely populated region known largely for its scenic vistas and peaches. However, the county has a history of violence and hardship. Clarksville, the county seat of Johnson County, is a sleepy and peaceful city, best known for the annual Peach Festival. But, in the 1870s the city was known nationally as “Bloody Clarksville” because of the numerous outlaws, gunfights, and hangings.
While it’s not quite as large as the Dallas counterpart, it still has loads of fun to offer, and without the horrendous crowds to boot!. The the fair takes place in the heart of East Texas in Tyler, so it’s just a 45 minute drive from Canton. You can also really immerse yourself in fall activities at the Yesterland Fall Festival.
The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine high school African American high school students that were prevented the right to go to Little Rock High School located in the capital of Arkansas. The nine students' names were Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray Karlmark,, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Pattillo Beals. The Little Rock Nine had a test to the Brown vs Board of education which was a court case resulting in segregation to be unconstitutional. Let's start from the very beginning. The Brown vs Board of Education case was happening because Oliver Brown of Topeka Kansas wanted to integrate schools instead of the segregation that was taking place.

However, this does not mean that Liberty is a bedroom community; it is a self-sufficient community with a proud heritage and a thriving economy. The Little Rock Nine will be forever known as history as great leaders. The Little Rock Nine are the first African Americans to go to an all white high school known as Central High. With the help of Mrs.Bates their mentor to protect them it will not be easy. Carlotta Walls LaNier has written her autobiography called A Mighty Long Way. During the integration of Little Rock Central High in 1957,the media illuminated certain event but painted an inaccurate or incomplete picture of other events.

On September 4, 1957 nine African American students changed everything. Civil Rights had to start somewhere and that somewhere was with the desegregation of public schools. One of the biggest impacts was a school called Little Rock Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas. A group of African American students later called “Little Rock Nine” changed their lives by going to a former all white-school. A group of students that wanted public schools to be desegregated was one of the events that led to the Civil Rights Movement.

History of The Ionia Fair Grounds The Ionia free fair is a great attraction for not only Michiganders but people all over the US. With many attractions, food vendors, and famous appearances the Ionia Free Fair is one of the best sources for summer fun in Mid-Michigan. However the fair grounds weren 't always fairgrounds. In fact before Ionia was even formed there were quite a few Native American clans around that area including The O--wash-to-nong, The Quab-i-quash-sha, The Cob-moos-a, The Mish-i-min-econ, and The Pish-im-ne-con. One of the final chiefs in Ionia was Cobmoosa a popular Chief along the Grand River.
The World’s Fair of 1893 was supposed to be a temporary celebration of Columbus’s discovery of America, while also outdoing the French (Paris hosted the previous World’s Fair). Frederick Jackson Turner first spoke to an audience about the Turner Thesis during the 1893 Chicago World Fair. This event was the central ground of American superiority. Many different business groups of diverse backgrounds met to share new products, values and aspects of their culture. Turner stated in one of his speeches at an American Historians seminar that the american frontier or the desire to settle in an area of open and free land will always remain in effect. Due to the lack of land to expand in our continent, America would look overseas.
