The Life of Olaudah Equiano is one of the most intriguing narrative that conjures up both emotions as well as historical facts to engage and inform readers of the cruelty and jarring reality of slavery and working back into his freedom. Equiano serves this purpose by describing his life in Africa, his enslavement in America, into his freedom in England. During his time of slavery, he was given several different names, been beaten for not eating, he came from being unable to understand English to being able to write his own book in English. Therefore, despite of being enslaved, Equiano did get a lot of benefits of education, and learning to understand different languages. However, he wasn’t the only one who was kidnapped from slavers, his younger sister as well was also taken into slavery but both was separated from each other. Equiano first became a slave to a wealthy chieftain, for over a month but then he runs way after accidently killing one of the master’s chicken. He hides in the woods by the master’s village, but as after several days without food or water, he goes back attending to steal food out the kitchen. Equiano falls asleep was discovered by another slave who takes him back to the master. However, he was forgiving and not punished. Equiano didn’t stay there for long, he was then sold to a group of travelers. His sister appeared with her master at the house, they were so grateful to see each other but after that day he hasn’t seen her again. Equiano eventually was sold to a wealthy widow and her son. Living with the, he was surprisingly equal with and more so happy, until he was forced to travel with the heathen to the seacoast. Equiano was then forced into a slave ship which he spends the next upcoming weeks in horrible conditions. He states the heat and climate, how close and packed he was on top of other slaves, and the horrible odor and stench that was lingering in the ship. This can conclude that Equiano went through numerous numbers of different masters and how slaves can be bought and sold at any given
