Since men hate to ask questions, they prefer to get information by themselves by reading manuals or by watching instructional videos or computer screens. Some retail stores are focusing on men’s love of technology and gadgetry as well. For example, at Target, they placed electronics and gadgets next to the men department. The times I’ve gone there, I have seen how men spend more time reading software packaging, watching instructional videos, or checking out the new video games. “By 2025, nearly one-fifth of the American people will be sixty-five or older. You also realize what that means: Old baby boomers”. In chapter eleven, the author makes references to seniors. The author states how stores need to redesign the store layout and packages for old baby boomers. Not only retail stores, but restaurants and banks should pay attention to the old generation and make stores more senior-accessible. One solution shared by the author is enlarging the text on packages of the product. However, that brings another issue to retailers and even manufactures. How? Because this means manufactures need to design bigger packages and retail stores will need more shelf spaces. Growing older is part of the cycle of life. There is nothing we can do about nature; nevertheless, retailers can try to help and make lives easier to seniors. For example, few drugstores I have stopped by such as CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens have attached to shelves magnifying glasses on chains near medicine bottles. This has been helpful, but it is not enough. Seniors still require for help to read labels. Part of a good customer services is providing help to customers.
