Introduction
Personal Interest: My personal interest with Gap Inc. is mainly with one of their brands. Personally I like to have a wide variety of clothes to wear and I tend to purchase new clothes at the beginning of each season. Old Navy, one of the Gap Inc. brands allows me to do so without having to spend much money. Clothes at Old Navy are usually in line with the current fashions and are priced very reasonably and usually included in their sales promotions. They also include a variety of sizes which is important for me because I am a short girl and wear a large size. These numbers show that comparing the direct competition, Gap Inc. is in a stronger position in the market. The indirect competition is a little different, it includes retailers that sell multiple brands, not including the direct competition, under their roofs. TJX Companies Inc. which includes TJ Max and Marshalls is the biggest threat to Gap Inc. their current stock value is $83.14 and their market cap is 52,134,766. The other indirect competitors include Kohl’s Corporation with a stock value of $59.52 and a market cap of 10,013,466 and Macy’s Inc. with a stock value of $30.59 and a market cap of 9,359,011 13.
