A few moments later. Olivia points to Morris’s room. Doug shakes his head, pointing to Morris in the picture (the photo that was on Morris’s desk). Olivia points to Morris’s room.
DOUG
Are you certain that is him?
OLIVIA
Yes sir.
Doug makes eye contact with Morris -- he’s emotionless.
INT. MORRIS’S PRIVATE BEDROOM - DAY
A moment of silence between the two men. Doug tries to process how this could be his friend. Morris stares at the ceiling, just blinking.
DOUG
Today’s the hunting convention...
MORRIS (V.O.)
Oh crap I wanted to go to that.
DOUG
...But I couldn’t go without you.
Doug looks at all the machines plugged into Morris.
DOUG (CONT’D)
This...this wasn’t supposed to happen.
Pause.
DOUG (CONT’D)
Maybe if I was there with you...

X-RAY - NIGHT
Morris lies on his back on the movable x-ray table. The X-RAY TECHNICIAN puts a lead apron on Morris and leaves the room.
INT. MORRIS’S PRIVATE BEDROOM - NIGHT
Up on an x-ray illuminator is a film of Morris’s lungs, which are infected. Dr. Yish talks to Morris, as Olivia scribbles on his patient form: “DOUBLE PNEUMONIA”.
INT. MORRIS’S PRIVATE BEDROOM - MOMENTS LATER
Morris lays down on his bed with his chest exposed. A tube is connected to a machine from Morris’s lungs. A RESPIRATORY TEAM MEMBER, zippers up his bag walking out of the room.
Sandy and Olivia stand at the foot of Morris’s bed. Sandy is in her pajamas, wearing an unbuttoned 80s Burberry Trench coat thrown over her slumber wear. She rubs her eyes, trying to stay awake.
SANDY
(exhausted)
Thank you for calling.
OLIVIA
Sorry it was late Mrs. Goodman, I just wanted you to know.
Sandy yawns.
SANDY
How is he doing?
OLIVIA
We gave him Penicillin antibiotic, he should be fine. You can go home.
Sandy sits in an empty chair next to Morris’s bed, holding his hand.
SANDY
No, I’m staying with my husband.
Olivia nods her head in approval -- walking towards the door.
OLIVIA
I’ll get you a pillow and

Olivia, Olivia!!
Sandy looks fear stricken, she presses the red button on the wall multiple times.
INT. HALLWAY - DAY
Dr. Yish and Sandy walk in unison down the hallway.
DR. YISH
Even though he’s having surgery, it’s required that he remains hooked up to a respirator for the rest of his life.
Sandy is grief-stricken. She has a pale complexion and shortness of breath.
SANDY
So he’ll never be able to breathe by himself even with the bronchoscopy surgery?
Sandy lost all hope in Morris. She looks as though she just found out her husband died. Olivia wheels Morris into the hall.
DR. YISH
No I’m sorry. To be frank with you
DR. YISH (CONT’D) we have done all that we could do for your husband and I think it’s best if he goes to a--
OLIVIA
Dr. Yish we’re ready for you.
DR. YISH
I must go.
Dr. Yish adamantly walks away. Sandy freezes in her spot, calling after him.
SANDY
But what were you gonna say?
He doesn’t hear her and keeps walking down the hall. Sandy nervously puts her hand to her throat.
INT. HALLWAY - LATER
Sandy leans up against the wall looking at the double doors of the operation room.
Morris gets wheeled out, his eyes are closed. Sandy smiles with
