This presentation was an interesting event that touched bases on many important topics. In this event, the public figure, Olmeca, shared some of his beliefs. Olmeca is a Hispanic rapper and a public speaker fighting for equal rights for all. In his presentation, Olmeca talks about the state the country is in by explaining the cause of the problem what we can do to fix it. Racism is still a pressing issue that many social groups face in society today. Olmeca explained how the institutions created by the the government are set to target people of color. In his presentation, he provides many examples of injustices and some actions that we can take to rebel against the institutions by looking out for each other and standing up for what is right. …show more content…

The presentation itself had many points about how culture has evolved but societal norms have generally remained the same. People nowadays are still as divided as they were a decade ago. In his music, Olmeca uses his bilingualism to share a view of a struggle that other people may not have thought of. His music takes the two languages in his arsenal and creates an amazing blend that speaks better to the audience. This connects perfectly to Spanish class because in life, everyone is a student, everyone is still learning new things daily. Also, people who are trying to learn a language are trying to become proficient in the language. Seeing an artist like Olmeca fluidly use both languages promotes people to learn a language. In this case, learning Spanish or any other language is important for both cultural diversity, and understand different languages. In the presentation, Olmeca explains that different barriers cause friction between groups. The friction causes groups people to turn against each other which is what the government wants. Breaking down the cultural barriers will changing reduce the friction enough to see the bigger problem which is the systematic oppression caused by the
