8-Steptima Poinsette Clark-Born on May 3rd,1898 in Charleston,South Carolina,Steptima is another african american woman who helped African american get the rights to vote. Her father had been born a slave. Both of her parent heavely encouraged her to get a good eduation. After attending public shool,she attended Avery Normal Institude,a private school for african americans. She tried to be a teacher,but since Charleston did not hire african americans to teach it`s public schools,so instead she became a teacher at South Carolina`s Johns Island in 1916.

Phillis Wheatley was a successful poet and an unlikely revolutionary. As a black woman who began her career as a slave, Wheatley cleared hurdles and broke rules on a daily basis. Wheatley was born in Gambia, around 1753.
My favorite poem from the Module “Myths and Archetypes in Hispanic Cultural Production” is the poem “I Am A Warrior Woman” by Ines Hernandez. I like the poem because I can see my mother, my hero, as a warrior woman. She moved to the United States from Mexico, leaving her friends and family, in order for her future kids to be given opportunities she never knew they couldn’t receive in Mexico. As a matter of fact, lines such as “at whatever moment that you find me I am a warrior woman” prompted memories of my mother never giving up. For example, when I was 10 years old, my mother’s husband was deported leading to half of my home’s income getting ripped away.
