From the first day we are born us as individuals play a role in society , and even though we are small human beings we still do play an important part in our society. No matter where you are from, how you look, or even the way you dress, effects your role in society. Some people's roles in society are more important than others, for instance a president has a very important role in our society. Just like in the in the stories we have read, "Once Upon A Time ", " Night Calls", and "Rituals of Memory" they all discuss the role individuals play in society. By discussing how in life we all have family issues, we all have something inside of us that traces us back to our ancestors, and by showing that still in today's society we are separated from something that was supposedly lifted a long time ago. …show more content…
As individuals in today's society, racism is a big part of our everyday lives. Even if we may not see it there is racism all around us. In the story "Once Upon A Time" the author states " where people of another color were quartered... These people were not allowed into the suburbs except as reliable housemaids, and gardeners." This shows how the colored people play a role in society by acting as a sign of neglect, unless they are working for others. Not ever family is perfect, and we see that a lot in today's society. We all have problems, although in the end something brings everyone together to reunite the bond. In the story "Night Calls" the main character goes through some struggles with her father. Based on the story it started "During holidays I came home, and my father would share the latest news about the heron with me... But after two or three years, interest in the heron faded". This shows how the father and daughter had a common thing to talk about, then it faded away causing their relationship to also
